Emily Lee Fong; S.F. Chinatown Activist
Emily Lee Fong, 90, a longtime activist in San Francisco’s Chinatown and a leader of Sino-Japanese War relief efforts. Fong, who went to San Francisco in 1899 when her parents emigrated from Canton, China, was a charter member of the Chinatown YWCA and helped organize a YWCA Red Cross Auxiliary during World War I. May 21 in San Francisco of heart failure.
