Local News in Brief : Panel Voids MCA Suit Over Disney Center
A state Court of Appeal panel has dismissed entertainment conglomerate MCA’s appeal of the dismissal of its lawsuit against the city of Burbank that attempted to block plans for a Walt Disney Co. entertainment and shopping center.
The panel dismissed the appeal without comment last week, Burbank officials said.
The suit was filed last year by MCA in an attempt to end Burbank’s tentative agreement with Disney to develop the center, titled “The Disney-MGM Studio Backlot.” Disney abandoned plans for the center in April.
MCA filed the appeal before Disney backed out of building the center.
Still pending is another lawsuit by MCA that alleges that the city violated state law in negotiating with Disney.
