Local News in Brief : Short Sparks Fire in Shops
An electrical short sparked a fire Thursday that damaged eight stores at the Fisherman’s Village shopping center in Marina del Rey, authorities said.
The 11:15 p.m. fire did an estimated $300,000 damage to the row of picturesque waterfront shops, which are a popular tourist draw. “They can’t be closed for too long because they’re too important to this area,” Sheriff’s Sgt. Bob Minutello said.
