Mick Dundee and John Rambo may be gobbling up big grosses, but the hottest ticket in town is director Wim Wenders’ “Wings of Desire.” Weekend lines have been around the block at L.A.’s NuArt, with tickets selling out ahead of showtime. Plus “reports of movie stars standing in line” to get them--actress Leslie Ann Warren and producer-director Michael Mann were spotted--according to an exec for Orion Classics, which handles the film.

Michael Barker, marketing/sales veep--correcting some trade paper figures--told us “Wings” had a five-week, $251,000 gross through the Memorial Day weekend, with whopping per screen averages of $40,125 in L.A. and $34,500 at its single NYC theater that week--”Every weekend is an increase over the previous weekend’s gross.”
