Brady Anderson, a highly touted rookie outfielder who attended UC Irvine, was sent on option to Pawtucket of the International League after failing in his first trial with the Boston Red Sox. The Red Sox recalled first baseman Pat Dodson from Pawtucket. Anderson hit .230 with no homers and 12 runs-batted in while playing 41 games with Boston. He led the team with 35 strikeouts.
