The Oregon Symphony was called into secret session at a concert hall in Portland last week to record a new, instrumental theme for “The Cosby Show.” Musical director James DePreist--who attended high school with producer-star Bill Cosby--wrote the new arrangement, which he said created the “orchestral sound” that Cosby wanted for the new arrangement. DePreist, the orchestra’s musicians, technicians and “Cosby Show” staffers are the only people who have heard the recording so far; the public won’t hear it until the show begins its new season, scheduled for Oct. 3.
