Japanese managers gave American workers high marks...

Japanese managers gave American workers high marks for intelligence but said they can’t match Japanese workers when it comes to education, job training and desire to work hard and produce quality products, a survey by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers found. The poll of managers working for Japanese-owned companies in the United States discovered that, for example, 60% rated the work ethic of the Japanese as excellent while only 19% thought Americans shared such a high standard. A society spokesman said the survey clearly shows the differences between management styles in American and Japanese companies. “This is not really an indictment by the Japanese of American workers,” he said. “The issue is really the entire system and how it works.”
