MCA Drops Second Burbank Suit Over Disney Development

Share

Entertainment conglomerate MCA has dropped its last legal challenge to what had been an agreement between Burbank and the Walt Disney Co. for the development of an entertainment and shopping center.

Disney abandoned plans for the center in April.

Gregory Stone, an attorney for MCA, said Tuesday that he had filed a motion with Los Angeles Superior Court for the dismissal of the suit filed against Burbank’s redevelopment agency last year. The suit alleged that the city violated state law by negotiating behind closed doors with Disney.

The suit was one of two filed against Burbank by MCA in an attempt to end Burbank’s tentative agreement with Disney to develop “The Disney-MGM Studio Backlot.”

Although MCA continues to believe that the agency violated state law, Stone said, “MCA has concluded that no purpose would be served by further litigation of the issues. . . . “

The other lawsuit filed against the city by MCA was dismissed earlier this year.
