Local News in Brief : Slumlord Fined $18,174
A landlord convicted of allowing slum conditions at two Koreatown apartment buildings was ordered Wednesday to pay $18,174, including a $2,500 contribution to a nonprofit organization that assists women on Skid Row.
Joseph G. Tabello, 56, of Hancock Park, was also sentenced to two years’ informal probation by Municipal Court Commissioner Barry Kohn, who ordered him to make repairs at one building by July 20 and the other structure by Aug. 18.
Tabello was sentenced after pleading no contest to 25 misdemeanor violations of various health and building and safety codes.
