West Hollywood : Labor Ruling Postponed

Share

The City Council on Monday postponed until June 20 action on the labor contract dispute between West Hollywood and a labor union representing 80 city employees.

Talks stalled between city negotiators and union representatives from Local 3339 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees two months ago over the issues of retroactive salary increases for all city employees and the job classification of 11 city workers.

The city has offered a phased-in salary increase that will take effect retroactively as of March 17, 1987, for some workers and a second level that will become effective July 1, 1988.

Union negotiators have asked for wage increases for all city employees retroactive to at least March 16, 1987.

The other unsettled issue to be taken up at the next council meeting is job classifications of six administrative aides, four hearing examiners and the production supervisor of the city’s cable television channel.
