The national teams of Mexico, El Salvador, Ireland and Japan will compete in the Marlboro Soccer Cup of Los Angeles at the Coliseum Aug. 5 and 7, organizers said. First-night pairings: El Salvador vs. Japan and Mexico vs. Ireland.

The Marlboro Cup is the third of four tournaments in different cities geared to generate interest in the sport and support for the U.S. bid for the 1994 World Cup. FIFA, soccer’s international governing body, is scheduled to announce the World Cup site July 4.
