Share

Port of Los Angeles officials have proposed a $344-million budget for the next fiscal year that projects $170 million in expenditures and calls for the Harbor Department to establish several new programs, including a hazardous materials management program.

The port expects to earn $170.3 million--$300,000 more than it will spend.

More than half the total budget--$174 million--is surplus carried forward from last year. It will not be spent in the next fiscal year.

The budget estimates that the port will spend $25 million for salaries that includes $1.5 million in overtime, and $71 million for construction and capital improvement projects. The port expects to receive $48.8 million from leasing land, buildings and marinas, and $102 million for providing shipping services.
