31 Games on Ohio State Basketball Schedule
Ohio State has scheduled 31 games, including 12 National Collegiate Athletic Assn. tournament teams, for its 1988-89 men’s basketball team.
The Buckeyes will meet Louisville for the first time in nine years, in a nationally televised game Jan. 29 at Louisville.
Ohio State and Louisville have split their four previous meetings. The last time the two teams met was the 1979-80 season.
Ohio State will also meet another Metro Conference team, South Carolina, for the first time ever.
The schedule includes two ABC-TV games--Louisville and Illinois at St. John Arena Feb. 26--and three ESPN telecasts: at Michigan Jan. 16, at Iowa Feb. 13 and at home against Purdue Feb. 6.
In addition to the Big Ten Conference schedule, Ohio State plays in two tournaments. The Maui Classic Nov. 24-27 also includes DePaul, Michigan, Vanderbilt, Oklahoma and Nevada Las Vegas--all NCAA tournament teams last year--along with Chaminade and a school to be named later.
Four other Ohio State games will be Big Ten network telecasts.
Ohio State returns four starters from last year’s 20-13 team that was a runnerup in the National Invitation Tournament.
