The Baltimore Orioles: They were on a pace through Thursday to be outscored, 862-512, which would make them only the third team in baseball history to be outscored by 300 or more runs. The 1954 Philadelphia A’s were outscored by 333 runs and the ’32 Boston Red Sox by 349.

Dennis Rasmussen: Why did the Cincinnati Reds trade Rasmussen to the San Diego Padres? “Did you look at his stats?” Manager Pete Rose asked, referring to a 2-6 record and 5.25 earned-run average.
