15th Annual Photo Contest : CALIFORNIA FACES : Children, Captured on Film, Are the Stars of This Year’s Winning Entries

In its 15th Annual Photo Contest, the Los Angeles Times put out a call for “California Faces.” As the 13 winning images on these pages attest, young people were the most popular portrait subjects of the year. The four top winners received cash prizes of $1,500, $750, $500 and $250. Contest judges were magazine staffers Nancy Duckworth, art director; Alison Morley, picture editor, and Jefferson G. Stillwell, operations director.
