KABC-TV Channel 7’s “A.M. Los Angeles” switched to a taped repeat program in the middle of its live broadcast Tuesday morning because of technical problems in the control booth. Host Steve Edwards had just completed an interview with Joanna Cassidy about her new film, “Who Framed Roger Rabbit,” when he told the audience the show would be switching to a videotaped program that had been broadcast last week. The station then aired a series of commercials, a please stand by slide and the repeat program for the approximately 45 remaining minutes of air time. The show’s producer was unavailable for comment, but a station employee, who did not want to be identified, said that the technical problems should be corrected by the time the show goes on the air live today.
