Pasadena : Rebuilt Pools Debut Today
The restored mirror pools at the entrance to Pasadena City College will be dedicated today at an 11:30 a.m. ceremony preceding a picnic lunch.
Originally built in 1937 by noted Pasadena architect Cyril Bennett, the two pools facing Colorado Boulevard have been renovated in a yearlong project that included landscaping and installation of a new filtering system. The pools had been empty for several years because of cracks caused by tree roots. Restoration cost $350,000 and included retiling, waterproofing and planting trees and shrubs.
