Athletic Director Neale Stoner and his top aides at the University of Illinois improperly received gifts and used athletic department employees to work in their homes and on their cars, university chancellor Morton Weir said. Stoner was previously the athletic director at Cal State Fullerton.
Weir said the university would complete its investigation of allegations involving Stoner and others next week and decide then whether to take any action against them. In the meantime, Stoner will continue as athletic director.
