The San Diego Community Foundation will funnel about $50,000 into rural San Diego County and Imperial County arts groups in a new program this year. Announced by foundation officers at its annual meeting Wednesday, the project is funded by a grant from the James Irvine Foundation and is designed for the “enrichment and enhancement” of indigenous rural arts organizations. It’s a fast-tracked project that requires that the money be disbursed by the end of the year, said foundation executive director Helen Monroe. The foundation, a community-based philanthropy, supervises an endowment of about $30 million for charitable purposes in San Diego and Imperial counties.
