Share

A list of 16 Los Angeles County mental health clinics that could be closed or cut back because of budget problems was released Thursday. The cuts, which could affect thousands of patients, will be made late this summer if the state or county do not increase Department of Mental Health funding to erase an $18-million shortfall, officials said.

The clinics that would be closed are: Arcadia; Coastal in Carson; Hubert Humphrey in Los Angeles; San Antonio in Bell Gardens; San Pedro; St. John’s Hospital mental health clinic in Santa Monica; Wilmington; the East and West San Fernando Valley clinics; Olive View Psychiatric Services in Sylmar and Hillview Clinic in Pacoima.

Mental health clinics that would cut back on their patient loads are: La Puente; Harbor-UCLA Medical Center; Martin Luther King Jr./Drew Medical Center; Kedren Community Center in South-Central Los Angeles, and County-USC Medical Center.
