UCI COMMENCEMENT CEREMONIES

UCI will hold commencement ceremonies this weekend as follows:

SATURDAY

10 a.m. Aldrich Park on UCI campus. Schools of Biological Sciences, Engineering and Physical Sciences. Lamia Gabal, a biological sciences student from Anaheim, will be the speaker.

1 p.m. Bren Events Center. Graduate School of Management. Walter Gerken, a regents professor and former chairman of Pacific Mutual Life Insurance Co., will be the speaker.

4 p.m. Aldrich Park. Schools of Fine Arts, Humanities, Information and Computer Science and Social Ecology. Marcia Wilson, a social ecology student from Fountain Valley, will be the speaker.

SUNDAY

4 p.m. Aldrich Park. School of Social Sciences. Gregory Staples, a political science student from Costa Mesa, will be the speaker.

COMMENCEMENT SUMMARY:

UCI this weekend will award 3,404 degrees, including 2,680 bachelor’s, 424 master’s, 212 doctoral and 88 medical. It will be the 23rd commencement ceremonies for the campus, and the first with so many separate graduation events.

When UCI held its first commencement in June, 1966, only 14 degrees were awarded. Last year the campus awarded 2,541 degrees. There are thus 863 more graduates this year than last year.
