Share

Roberta MacFaden-Miller, the executive director of the Angels Gate Cultural Center in San Pedro, is leaving her post for personal reasons, according to Victor Dykes, chairman of the center’s board of directors.

Dykes said Miller, whose mother is ill, has asked for an indefinite leave of absence.

However, board President George Beck indicated Miller might be leaving permanently. He said she has rescinded her request for a leave.

Miller would not comment, except to say, “There will be a change.” She said she will make an announcement regarding her status at the board meeting Monday night.

Miller’s four-year tenure has been marked by charges that she drove artists away from the center by creating internal conflict, although she has also been praised for being energetic and hard-working.
