Tucker Released From Hospital

Assemblyman Curtis R. Tucker (D-Inglewood) was released from Sutter Memorial Hospital in Sacramento Saturday after recuperating from chest pains he suffered during an Assembly meeting June 9.

Tests showed the chest pains “had absolutely nothing to do with his heart,” said Tracy St. Julien, an administrative assistant in Tucker’s Sacramento office. Doctors said the pains could be due to exhaustion, she said.

Hospital officials, on instructions from Tucker, would not release information on his condition.

Tucker, 70, a former Inglewood councilman who has served in the Assembly since 1974, was hospitalized about six months ago for prostate surgery and underwent heart bypass surgery about 10 years ago, St. Julien said.

The assemblyman won an easy victory in the June 7 Democratic primary.
