Why Slow Growth Lost, What Will Happen Now

Share

In a recent article discussing Measure A, the mayor of Irvine, Larry Agran, is quoted as making some of the most incredible statements I have ever read. He called developers “thugs,” “liars” and “greedy.” He further stated that the “Board of Supervisors behaves more like lap dogs than like county leaders.”

I for one, as a developer, take great exception with the mayor’s comments and am personally insulted by his statements. I am proud of being a part of the development community and helping to provide a better quality of life in Southern California.

It is one thing to have a difference of opinion over the merits of a particular ballot measure, but for an elected official to stoop to the level the mayor did is beyond comprehension. I ask that he make a public apology to the development community and to the supervisors.

My only regret is that I don’t live in Irvine so I could have voted for a new mayor.
