A Vista Municipal Court judge Monday ordered former San Pasqual High School teacher Carl Swadell to perform 200 hours of volunteer community work, pay a $200 fine and undergo psychological counseling because of his earlier plea of no contest to misdemeanor charges of child molestation.
Judge David Ryan also ordered Swadell, 62, to register as a sex offender and to not be alone with children under the age of 18.
Swadell pleaded no contest June 1 to two misdemeanor counts of child molestation after he was charged with inappropriately touching a 17-year-old girl in a photography darkroom at the school in Escondido in November.
