Police were searching Wednesday for a man who strolled into a California Federal Savings Bank around noon, handed a note to a teller and robbed the bank of $2,500.
Police Lt. John Foster said the robber reportedly waited in line at the bank at Edinger Avenue and Springdale Street before he gave the teller a note written in red crayon that read, “This is a robbery. Give me cash.”
The robber was videotaped after the assistant bank manager noticed him fidgeting in line and started the cameras, said John Kaufman, a spokesman for the bank in Los Angeles.
Foster said the man, who fled on foot at 12:26 p.m., was described by witnesses as about 29 years old, about 5 feet, 9 inches tall, with dark curly collar-length hair.
Kaufman said a customer who entered the bank just after the robbery noticed a man “in a great hurry” jumping into a blue Cadillac parked around the corner.
