CBS Fouls Out
Howard Rosenberg stated that he’s very happy with Billy Cunningham and Dick Stockton’s CBS NBA coverage, and he even likes the TV court-level shot for diversity (“Sportscasters as Solid Assist Men,” June 15).
I agree with the apparent majority who feel they are too bland. After listening to them for a while, I yearn for the spice and color a Tommy Heinsohn can provide.
The court-level TV angle is terrible! We have great TV seats at mid-court, 1/3 of the way up, and suddenly we’re down on our knees staring at the back of a referee, with tunnel vision, no depth perception and missing all the action.
Why don’t TV directors realize that the constant action and drama of the game itself provides the diversity and save the various angle shots for coverage of the symphony.
