Two brothers of the governor of Baja California state were arrested when police broke up a cocaine-smuggling ring in northern Mexico, local newspapers reported. El Universal and Novedades, quoting police officials, said police arrested five men, including Agustin and Rene Liceaga Ruibal, brothers of state Gov. Victor Manuel Liceaga Ruibal. El Universal quoted the governor as saying that “I am totally clean” and that he could not be held responsible for his brothers’ actions. The gang had several landing strips in northern Mexico for cocaine flown in from Colombia for shipment across the border to the United States, the papers said.
