Local News in Brief : Yorba Linda : New Executive to Set Up Water District Computer

Share

Robb Quincey was appointed executive assistant to the general manager of the Yorba Linda Water District this month, primarily to handle a $200,000 computer project for the district.

Quincey, 28, of Chino, who holds a doctorate in public administration from the University of La Verne, is coordinating the district’s conversion from manual accounting, record-keeping and billing to computerized processes, spokesman Mike Robinson said.

Currently, the district pays $50,000 a year to Xerox to handle billing and $5,000 to Bank of America to assist with payroll, Robinson said. These costs will be eliminated with the new computer system, scheduled to go on line in about a year.

Also, the district will not need to hire additional personnel to operate the system, which is expected to greatly improve customer service and accountability by making records easily accessible, Robinson said.

There were more than 80 applicants for Quincey’s position with the district, which provides water and sewer service to most of the city of Yorba Linda and parts of Placentia, Brea, Anaheim and unincorporated Orange County.
