According to last week’s A.C. Nielsen ratings, the hottest place to be except outdoors last week was in front of the tube watching the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Detroit Pistons, 108-105, in Game 7 of the NBA Finals on CBS. The harrowing contest, featuring the Pistons’ injured hero Isiah Thomas, garnered a 21.2 rating and a 37 share, making it the highest-rated pro basketball game. Despite the game, CBS ended the week in second place behind NBC.

Meanwhile, Atlantic Records 40th Anniversary music special failed to rock audiences despite its all-star cast, earning a mere 9.3 rating and a 16 share. See complete ratings list on Page 12.
