Less than an hour before he was shot to death, moonshine runner Don Hudson threatened violence against the man accused of killing him, a witness testified in the 31-year-old murder case at Chattanooga, Tenn.

Hudson was angry because he believed that Bobby Hoppe had caused his sister, Joan Hoppe Voiles, to break up with Hudson, Evelyn D. Shirley said. Hoppe, a former Auburn football star, is charged with first-degree murder in the shotgun slaying of Hudson, 24, who was killed about 1 a.m. July 20, 1957, as he drove his car along a North Chattanooga street.
