Local News in Brief : Anaheim : School Nurses Plan Fund-Raising Romp
School nurses from around the nation will take part in a 2-mile fund-raising Run for Kids at 7 a.m. Saturday in Anaheim.
The race will begin outside the Anaheim Hilton and Towers hotel and will extend around the Anaheim Convention Center.
The event is part of the annual convention of the National Assn. of School Nurses at the Anaheim Hilton.
The race is expected to draw about 250 of the 600 school nurses attending the convention, said Margo Stone, a spokeswoman for the group. “The school nurses are participating in this lighthearted event to raise money for the Children’s Defense Fund, a national charity based in Washington, D.C.,” Stone said. “Humorous costumes, hats and state teams with themes are being encouraged.”
