Brazil Enacts Land Confiscation Law

RIO DE JANEIRO —
Land used to grow drugs such as marijuana and cocaine will be confiscated under a new law passed by Brazil’s constituent assembly.
The new law, approved by a vote of 350 to 28 on Tuesday night, also ruled that captured proceeds from illegal drug trafficking would be confiscated by the state. The money will be given to institutes helping drug addicts.
