Local News in Brief : Plan for Mini-Mart Gains

Share

The Manhattan Beach City Council gave tentative approval to construction of a gas station, mini-mart and coin-operated carwash on Manhattan Beach and Aviation boulevards after requesting modifications.

A gas station with a garage and towing service is at the 10,000-square-foot location. A Mobil Oil Corp. representative told the council that the company plans to spend more than $1 million on the new facility.

In response to concerns expressed by the Magic Rainbow Preschool next to the site, the council called for installation of doors at the entrance and exit of the carwash to reduce noise. Other noise measures include concrete block walls on the western and northern borders of the property.

The council will vote on the project when modified plans are presented at the next regular meeting Tuesday.
