Mary Slaney will run the mile, her first try at that distance since she set a world record in the event nearly three years ago, to headline today’s Prefontaine meet in Eugene, Ore. Slaney, did not compete in 1986 because of the birth of her daughter, nor in 1987 because of a leg injury.
