The United States will play Jamaica in its second-round qualifying soccer games for the 1990 World Cup on July 24 at Kingston, Jamaica, and on Aug. 13 at St. Louis, the U.S. Soccer Federation announced.

Meanwhile, the hierarchy of American soccer began planning for the 1994 World Cup, hoping to strengthening the national team and revitalize soccer leagues across the country.

“What has to be done is one thing only,” said Werner Fricker, president of the USSF. “Development of the national team.”
