St. Barnabas Center Moves to New Facility

St. Barnabas Senior Center, formerly on West 6th Street in Los Angeles, has moved to a newly constructed facility at 675 S. Carondelet St.

The $3.1-million building is located one block west of MacArthur Park in an area that houses the largest concentration of low-income elderly in Los Angeles County.

The Rev. Richard C. Hall, executive director of the 80-year-old institution, said the move will provide space for the expansion and integration of key services. Last year, the center delivered 257,776 services to 31,620 clients, the majority of whom live at or near the poverty level.

Costs of building and equipping the new center have been fully covered by Senior Center Bond Act on Aging grants and by private sector support.
