A group led by Hansabel Associates Inc. of New York City has acquired 869,403 common shares or almost 8% of Cousins Home Furnishings common stock as an investment, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The group paid between $2.10 and $2.80 each for its Cousins stock.

The acquisition follows Los Angeles-based RB Industries’ sale on June 30 of its entire stake--959,403 common shares, or 8.75%--of Cousins to Kidder Peabody at $2 each.
