Local News in Brief : Woman Killed by Car on Burbank Street

A Los Angeles man was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter after he hit an elderly woman as she walked across a Burbank intersection Thursday morning, police said.
The victim, whose identify could not immediately be determined, was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank after the accident at Olive Avenue and Lincoln Street, said Lt. Joe Latta of the Burbank Police Department. She died a short time later, Latta said.
The woman was walking south across Olive Avenue shortly before 10:30 a.m. when she was hit by a car driven by John D. Benson, Latta said.
Benson was released from the Burbank City Jail after posting $2,500 bail, Latta said.
