Atty. Gen. Edwin Meese Steps Down

I quote from Dershowitz: “His major role continued to be counseling the President on political issues. . . . That is not what an attorney general is supposed to do but it is inherent in the job whenever the President selects a political crony, personal friend or relative.”
Further he says, “In short, Meese’s major qualification for serving as attorney general did not lie in his abilities as a lawyer sworn to uphold the law, but rather as a political insider and presidential intimate. . . .”
I don’t know when I’ve heard a more perfect description of the role Bobby Kennedy played under JFK. I wonder what Dershowitz thought of that situation. I imagine he worshipped the ground the Kennedys walked on.
