Arts and entertainment reports from The Times, national and international news services and the nation's press

Those Hollywood celebrities who want the Stork to come: Burt Reynolds, Linda Evans and Richard Chamberlain. Those who would rather do without the bird’s arrival: Warren Beatty and Loretta Swit are happily childless. This informal survey is courtesy of Cosmopolitan magazine, which in its August issue polled celebrities to see if the yuppies’ latest rage, fecundity, extends toward Hollywood. Among those for children: Chamberlain, who--though still single--said, “For the first time in my life, I feel ready to marry and start a family. I think I have something to give to children now.” Reynolds, recently married to Loni Anderson: “I still want a kid so bad that I ache.” Among those opposed: Ex-”MASH” star Swit, who says, W. C. Fields-like: “I love kids as long as they’re somebody else’s.” And perennial bachelor Beatty: “My sister (Shirley MacLaine) once said she couldn’t imagine me with children. She may be right.”
