A Greyhound bus driver was released on his own recognizance after his arrest on a drunk-driving charge Saturday on Interstate 8.

California Highway Patrol officers stopped the eastbound bus just east of El Cajon. The bus, San Diego to Calexico, carried nine passengers and was weaving to the right shoulder, according to CHP spokesman Bob Melton.

Officers administered a sobriety test to the driver, Robert Porter, 50, of Arizona. Porter failed the test and was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. He was later released.

Arnold Fehling, Greyhound’s district manager, said Porter has been suspended pending an internal investigation.
