Road Work on Westbound Ventura Freeway to Close Lanes--Again

Share

Westbound Ventura Freeway motorists will face lane and ramp closings today and Friday near Agoura and continued road work that will shut lanes down at another stretch this weekend.

This weekend’s work holds the most potential for slowing traffic as the state Department of Transportation has announced that continued lane closures will be extended for the first time to Sunday night.

Crews will close all but the median and the fast lane from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 11 a.m. Saturday from Winnetka to Canoga avenues, said Richard Paul, Caltrans assistant resident engineer for the $18.3-million widening project.

On Saturday, all but one or two lanes will be closed at various times from 9 p.m. to 10 a.m. Sunday between Reseda Boulevard and Winnetka Avenue.

Lane closings on Sunday night will be from Reseda to Winnetka and will last from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday. Either one or two lanes will be open during the night.

Caltrans officials said that alternate-route signs will be posted.

In addition, crews will close two westbound lanes of the freeway in Agoura and Westlake Village today and Friday as work gets under way on a 9-mile resurfacing project.

The two lanes closest to the median will be closed from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. between Reyes Adobe and Lake Lindero Canyon roads, said Patricia Reid, spokeswoman for the Caltrans. The same lanes will be closed Friday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., Reid said.

The $13-million, 7-month project includes adding a 5-inch layer of asphalt to all freeway lanes between Las Virgenes Road in Calabasas and Hampshire Road in Thousand Oaks.
