The State : Woman Held in Holdup

A 46-year-old Orange woman was arrested for taking $16,800 from a Fountain Valley merchant who had just made a bank withdrawal, police said. The suspect, Arlene Theresa Kaufmann, apparently used a toy gun, police said. The merchant was about to enter her car at the Bank of America, 16192 Harbor Blvd., at 2:11 p.m., when Kaufmann allegedly stuck the barrel of a gun in her ribs, Fountain Valley police said. Witnesses noted the license number of the suspect’s car which, they told police, headed toward Garden Grove. Kaufmann was arrested 10 minutes later as she was counting money in her car, police said, and the cash and a toy gun were recovered.
