Architecture in Los Angeles

The excitement of participating in the remarkable transformation of Los Angeles as our city comes of age is reinforced after reading Harris’ enlightening article.
I am surprised that the article omitted any reference to Romaldo Giurgola, the internationally renowned recipient of the prestigious AIA Gold Medal Award for his lifetime achievement. As Sam Hall Kaplan reported in The Times, Giurgola designed the recently completed critically acclaimed $1-billion Parliament House in Australia. Giurgola’s contribution to Los Angeles is the design of Center West, which may be the last high-rise office building in Westwood.
