CAMPAIGN ’88 : Kunin to Seek 3rd Term
From Associated Press
Vermont Gov. Madeleine M. Kunin announced a bid for a third two-year term, promising to work for a universal health care plan similar to one recently adopted in Massachusetts.
“It’s a basic need that must be met,” the 54-year-old Democrat said in a speech delivered Monday at Burlington’s new community boathouse.
Kunin doesn’t have a challenger in the September primary election. She is likely to face House Republican leader Michael Bernhardt of Londonderry in November. Bernhardt also is unopposed in the primary.
