Former Moorpark College and Simi Valley High outfielder Corey Aurand signed a letter of intent Wednesday night to play baseball at USC.
Aurand (5-11, 170 pounds) was All-Western State Conference last season at Moorpark, batting .375 with eight home runs. He is batting .365 with 6 home runs and 26 stolen bases this summer for the San Fernando Valley Dodgers.
“We like his versatility,” USC assistant Coach Bill Hughes said. “He has good experience coming in as a junior. His leadership and experience is something we’re looking for.”
Aurand, 20, said he chose USC over Nevada Las Vegas.
“In my mind, I expect to start somewhere in the outfield,” he said.
