Local News in Brief : Lanes to Close Again on Ventura Freeway
Two lanes of the westbound Ventura Freeway will be closed late today and reopened early Sunday as construction work continues on a massive widening and improvement project, officials said.
The No. 4 lane will be closed from Winnetka to Canoga avenues at 9 tonight, and the No. 3 lane will be closed at 1 a.m. Both lanes will remain closed until 7 a.m. Sunday, said Mark Rutherford, spokesman for the state Department of Transportation.
The De Soto Avenue on- and off-ramps and the Canoga off-ramps will be closed from 9 tonight until 7 a.m. Sunday, Rutherford said.
Workers recently began paving the stretch of freeway from De Soto to Canoga and will primarily be doing fine grading of the westbound shoulder today, he said.
The work is part of a $18.3-million widening and improvement project of a 7 1/2-mile stretch of freeway.
