Hart Overcomes Errors With 15-Hit Attack

Share

It was not a day of precise execution for the Hart Colt team in Saturday’s Western Zone tournament in Commerce, but the offense and pitching was more than enough to make up for spotty defensive play.

Despite committing eight errors, Hart defeated Ocean View, 12-2, at Veterans Memorial Stadium to move within one victory of earning a berth in the eight-team Colt World Series in Lafayette, Ind., which begins Tuesday.

Hart right-handers Anthony Chessani and Keith Halcovich combined to allow only three hits and one earned run. Chessani, who started, allowed no runs on two hits in three innings, striking out two and walking one. Halcovich allowed two unearned runs, struck out one and walked none in three innings. The game was called after six innings because of the 10-run rule.
