Burn Victim Walks Into Police Station
A 30-year-old man with burns over nearly one-third of his body walked into the 77th Street Division police station in Los Angeles about 4 a.m. Sunday and pleaded for help.
He told officers that someone had doused him with gasoline and set him ablaze. But Fire Department paramedics said they found no trace of gasoline on the man, Police Sgt. Ed Wilson said.
The victim, whose name was not released pending notification of his family, was taken first to Daniel Freeman Memorial Hospital in Inglewood, then transferred to the burn unit at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center.
He was 28% covered with second- and third-degree burns and in serious condition, hospital spokeswoman Norka Manning said.
